Questions we're already hearing

Can I buy your soup?

Not yet. Maine Ladle is a brand-new family idea, and in Maine, soup that's sold has to be made in a licensed commercial kitchen. We're working on that now. Ask to be kept posted and we'll tell you when the first batch is for sale.

When will you start selling?

We don't have a date yet. First comes getting the recipes right, then a licensed kitchen and a state food license, then a farmers market or two. You can follow our progress on our plan.

Where will you sell?

We're aiming for farmers markets near Wiscasset first, then maybe a pickup spot in town, and maybe online orders after that.

How much will it cost?

We haven't set prices yet. We want them to be fair for a homemade, from-scratch quart, in line with what other local makers charge.

Which soups will you make?

The recipe list shows the family favorites we're testing. If there's one you'd want first, tell us. It really helps.

Will there be vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free options?

We hope so. Several of Mom's recipes are already meat-free or made without gluten-containing ingredients. When we start selling, every container will list its ingredients and allergens.

Can I help?

Yes! If you know of a commercial kitchen for rent near Wiscasset, a market that's looking for vendors, or you've started a food business in Maine yourself, we'd love to hear from you.
